Exploring textiles has been a part of my life from as early as I can remember. As a young girl my mother would help me sew doll clothes that I designed and my Great Grandmother, Nana and Mother were all quilters and needle workers. They produced incredible lace, hand pieced hexagonal quilts, elaborately knitted sweaters and sheepskin moccasins.... The art and patience to make with one's hands is part of my ancestry. One of my first jobs at the age of 17 was working for a seamstress. She taught me the basics of sewing and how to handle fabric. It's a job I'll forever be grateful for.
I am from Adelaide, South Australia and currently live and work in Houston, Texas. I studied Art History and English at Texas State University in San Marcos. During these years I worked under Ishmael Soto, one of Texas' oldest and most influential potters in his studio in Blue, Texas. In addition to textiles I also work with paint and collage. I love the history and folklore of quilts. They keep the lines of family, friends and folks connected in such a positive, comforting way. They serve as both an object of beauty and function. I choose to hand quilt my quilts as I enjoy the imperfection of the human hand and spirit at work. The time, love and patience is there visually in the small stitches, one after the other. My one-of-a-kind quilts are durably hand crafted and are of heirloom quality. Using nothing other than pure natural fibers they hold up to all adventures and are meant to be used as well as admired. I hope that they become items treasured by families and passed down to future generations.
Campfire Quilts was born during a road trip from Texas to Canada with my family through the beautiful Rocky Mountains during the summer of 2013. The days were warm and the chilly nights by the campfire were welcomed with a quilt on my lap. Funny how the summer nights in Wyoming reminded me of the winter nights in Texas. A quilt is needed in all seasons!

CARE FOR YOUR QUILT
A hand quilted quilt should be washed only when really necessary. An airing of the quilts could become your annual ritual for air cleaning your quilt and letting the wind rather than soap and water, cleanse the fibers and layers of your quilt.
Cold water only. Use a mild soap. Preferably wash by hand. Or gentle cycle with machine.
Line dry. Never put a hand quilted quilt in the dryer.
Be extra cautious when line drying large hand quilted quilts. The weight of the water in the quilt can cause the stitches to pop on the line. Try to hold the bottom of the quilt up with a chair to support its weight.
