The Confetti Quilt
This handcrafted quilt is constructed from a combination of shot cotton, linen and 100% natural cotton with a cotton batting. The back is made with pure linen, and the name of the quilt, year and artists signature, is hand embroidered on the back.
Entirely hand quilted using cotton Japanese sashiko thread. The border is hand stitched using a double binding technique so the edges of your quilt are well protected. Quilt measures 42 inches x 42 inches.
The design is a traditional sawtooth star.
I named it The Confetti Quilt because the colors used to build it reminded me of the paper confetti that was thrown at weddings in Australia in the 1980s. It's now faux pas to throw paper confetti at weddings, so the colors of this quilt holds those memories close. The binding compliments the name, as though it is framed in confetti.
This was a custom quilt made for a baby in Indianapolis. You can see below my watercolor sketches that are sent to the client for approval, before production of the quilt begins.
