Indigo Shibori Workshop - 5/7/17
Join me for an afternoon at my home studio in Downtown Houston where we will explore natural Indigo Dye and the art of Shibori.
Shibori is a Japanese term for methods of dyeing fabric via folding, twisting, stitching, compression and clamping. Indigo is a mystical dye like no other. If you've been wanting to experiment with natural dyes and haven't taken the leap just yet, this is a great place to start.
This beginners workshop will be held on Sunday, May 7th 2017 from 1-4:30pm. We will begin the workshop inside, covering the basics of Arashi (pole wrapping) and Itajime (fold and clamp) Shibori, and then move outdoors to work with the fermentation indigo vat.
The workshop fee includes a 35 inch x 35 inch silk scarf (seen in the image as 'cape'), and 1 linen dish towel. The $35 supply fee is included in the price of the class. You don't need to be a seamstress to enjoy this class as you will go home with two completed projects.
Afternoon tea will be provided!
WORKSHOP TERMS:
The class size is limited to 6 people (aged 16 or older). The class requires a minimum of 4 to make. No refunds are given, however you are welcome to transfer your class to a friend. If you need to transfer your class, please notify me with at least 48 hours notice.
My address and class details will be sent to participants through email the week before the workshop. Please wear 'paint clothes' or clothing that you don't mind getting dye on. Dark colors recommended. Closed toed shoes or rain boots recommended.
If you have questions, please get in touch! I am happy to answer them.
